Tureasury

This is a draft. Some of what a policy has to state is a fact about this deployment rather than about the software, and it has not been set yet. Each one appears below in square brackets. Until they are filled in, treat this page as unfinished:

Terms of service

What this is

A double-entry bookkeeping application for a household, reporting in Canadian dollars. You keep your own books on it. It is not a bank, it does not move money, and it has no access to any account at any institution -- every figure in it is one you entered or imported.

This deployment does not work out tax returns and does not offer any figure for a return. Nothing here is tax advice.

Nothing here is financial, investment, accounting or legal advice.

Your account

Households and shared records

A household's books are shared by its members. A transaction on a joint account is as much the other holder's record as yours, so leaving or deleting your account does not remove it: your membership, your grants and your own uploads go, the books stay, and references to you on the household's records are replaced with a marker. A household nobody else is a member of is erased with you.

Availability and backups

This is offered as it is, with no uptime commitment. Backups are taken and their restore is rehearsed, but no backup arrangement is a guarantee: keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Your data can be exported as a zip at any time from Your data.

The operator may close an account or a household that is being used to attack the service or to hold somebody else's information against their will, and will say why where it is safe to.

Liability

The service is provided without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for loss arising from its use, including lost records or figures relied on. Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be limited by agreement, including under consumer protection legislation.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of [not yet decided: which province's law governs these terms].

Changes

These terms and the privacy policy are generated from the running deployment's own settings, so they change when the deployment does. The review date at the top is when the wording was last checked against the code.
